Simulation Movies:

Movies of my protoplanetary disk simulations can be found in the Hydro Group's website. These movies show top and side views of the disk modeled using different physical approximations. The colors indicate density ranges: red is the highest density while blue is the lowest. For most simulations (except Test 4), the white numbers on the upper right corner indicate elapsed time in ORPs (outer rotation periods, 1 ORP=250 yr). Thanks to John B. Rosheck, Jr. for creating the software to make these animations.
    • Test 4 shows a fragmenting isothermal (no cooling or heating) disk.
    • Tcool=2, Tcool=1, and Tcool=1/4 show disks evolved using shock heating and different cooling rates.
    • RC uses radiative cooling instead of a fixed cooling rate, and shock heating.
    • Comparison in density and temperature between a pure radiative cooling disk (see above) vs. one with starlight as an additional source of heating.
